| BEHIND
THE DRUMS
......... WITH CARLOS
Hanging out with
musicians is a funny job at times. This week we take a sneek at
a one of Portugal's first Gospel bands "Kuriakos" and
their newest CD Pescador.

Why
did Kuriakos choose the title Pescador(fisherman)?
I think that it was based on the song "Pescador" which is
in the CD. The message of this album is to encourage people to become
fishermen of men!
Whenever we record a CD it also has the two following objectives:
On an internal level Kuriakos' goal is to bless and motivate Christians
to stay firm in their walk with Christ. We also use the CD as a tool
to gain more people for Christ. All of our CD's are used for evangelizing!!
What
was it like recording "Pescador" live, in Holland?
I enjoyed the experience. Although we recorded this live we did get
to spend some time beforehand practicing in the studio. Before we record
I find that the best way for me to practice is by playing the music
at home while playing the drums on top. My neighbors never complain
about the noise but they used to when I played the trumpet!
Whenever we do some new work I always feel a little apprehensive as
to the audience's reaction. The first time we play anything in public
I get butterflies. It's always easy to see whether the audience is enjoying
our music. When they don't like any of our new songs -no one says anything!
Which
is your favourite track on the "Pescador" CD?
- flui em mi.
What
has God taught you through years by being a part of Kuriakos?
"Each one of us has a path to take but where we end up is up to
us to determine.."
The work that we do, as a band that evangalising often present barriers
for us to brake through..
What
piece of advice can you give to someone in a Christian band?:
"Above everything else we should never forget how and why we got
this far. The reason for playing in a band is for us to always give
honour and glory to God."
Can
you give us a hint about Kuriakos's next CD?
I never write any music- so I am not involved in any of the initial
creating stages. Sorry, you'll have to speak to Zé Antonio about
that one!
