Alentejo

The Alentejo Region is located in the south of Portugal between Greater Lisbon and Spain. It is geographically comprised of the districts of Portalegre, Évora and Beja, as well as the four council districts of Setúbal. In total there are 46 councils, grouped into four large bodies or sub-regions: Higher Alentejo, Alentejo Central, Coastal Alentejo and Lower Alentejo. The Alentejian coast or more specifically the part called “Costa Vicentina”, is today one of the most important nature reserves in the region.

Algarve

The Algarve lies in the extreme south of Portugal. Bordered by a range of hills on the north, the sea on the south and the Guadiana river on the east, it has a unique dry but soft climate. The beaches have fine sand, and the villages are charming. Since the 1960's, many people have been attracted to this region with it's ever present sunshine and natural beauty. The Algarve has many well known towns and villages, and world famous beaches.

The main attraction is, without doubt, the superb climate. Pleasant temperatures, more than three thousand hours of sunshine a year, little rain and beaches that go on forever.
